From Richard Bach

That’s what learning is, after all; not whether we lose the game, but how we lose and how we’ve changed because of it, and what we take away from it that we never had before, to apply to other games. Losing, in a curious way, is winning. - Richard Bach

  1. Nice pictures. I wonder if the game experience would improve with a map like this: https://www.loc.gov/resource/g3824g.cw0357000/?r=0.072,0.479,0.75,0.461,0 , probably one of the loveliest maps I have ever seen.

  2. That is a very cool map! The cool thing about Command Post Games' Pub Battles system, is that it is robust enough to play easily on any map.

The canvass Pub Battles maps are universally lauded for their awesome maps.

  3. What are the natural wood pieces? Are they just spacers for road column marking? Looks like some are placed on blocks and others spaced between.

  4. Good eye, Chuck! Those are 1 7/8" x 3/8" x 1/8" blocks that I special ordered from tregames.com they were $4 for 30, which is more than I'll ever need.

I sit them on top a unit in column on a major road, and place them behind the unit on a minor road. As per the rules, minor roads cause the unit to be more spread out.

Helps me keep track. Not a requirement, but a quality of life thing. You could just cut some out from a cereal box if you wanted, but I like the look and feel of wood.
